2022 Reading List

I confess - I’ve never been an avid reader. My wife and two of my siblings are. However, in my professional career, I’ve learned the value of a good book.

Recently, Doug McMillon shared his reading list on LinkedIn. I appreciated him doing that as a reference point to books to consider but also as a demonstration for his commitment to learning. If the CEO of the world’s largest company recognizes his need for reading, how much more should I? So, taking a page from his book (pun intended), I decided perhaps someone would find value in my list from 2022.

A couple of qualifiers…. my job has me in the car a lot, so my Audible subscription is a tremendous asset in redeeming that time, especially at 2x speed. While most is professionally driven, a few titles were primarily personal, one was simply brain candy (I’ll let you decide which one that might be), and three were re-reads (marked by the asterisk). Here’s the list:

Deep Purpose by Ranjay Gupta

The 6 Types of Working Genius by Patrick Lencioni

All in Startup by Diana Kander*

Coach K by Ian O’Connor

Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown

Is This Anything? by Jerry Seinfeld

Hope in Times of Fear by Timothy Keller

Arnie & Jack by Ian O’Connor

Mastering Leadership by Robert J. Anderson and William A. Adams

Prayer by Timothy Keller

How To Be A Great Boss by Gino Wickman and Rene Boer

Traction by Gino Wickman*

The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker*

Hidden Christmas by Timothy Keller

Perhaps there’s a title or two you haven’t looked at yet or would find intriguing. Perhaps something about sharing this list contributes to your own development. For me, it’s forward to 2023 and all of the titles in the queue.
